About Us

The students of today are the leaders of tomorrow

There are no free schools in Kenya so many disadvantaged children have no hope of an education or a bright future.  Skills for Living opened 10 schools since 2003 and they continue to be highly functional.  These schools educate orphans, disadvantaged children and any who can attend.  The scholastic achievement in each school is very high and has drawn the attention of local officials.  There is very low absenteeism compared to other schools and very high marks on Government required testing.

As a result, young children are getting a head start on their education, orphans are adopted by people in the local villages, and the schools provide employment in an impoverished area.

These school provide a hot meal each day Monday through Friday.  For many of the orphans attending this is the only food they get to eat.

Walt passed away in October of 2007 and Valerie continues to work with local officials and community leaders to keep the schools open and educate children who otherwise would have no hope.

In 2016 Valerie remarried and her husband Ken continues to support the schools and encourage the leadership team.

Children are the future of any country and the better educated the children are the better the future for the country will be.
